Just a small video on my rig and the pop up camper. Definitely great for camping and slowly converting this rig to a solid overland vehicle for travels around Texas and the southwest.

That is a great rig and a great camping set up!
You need to go to Barnwell Mountain with us to camp and wheel!

I did. If it weren’t for the paychecks I’m getting, I’d be back in a heartbeat.
We visit the homestead at least twice a year.

I like that ‘hi-lux’ and I’ve always thought the Wildernest was very cool. Think in ever-widening circles... Southern Utah is perfect for that rig... or vice versa.

I want a wildernest but finding one for an MJ is unpossible. I can’t even find a Leer cap in decent shape.

Nice rig. I’ve been lusting after live axle Hilux’s lately. I was wondering when the last year they made them before going to independent front end, 1997 it would seem. That was also the last Hilux for the States before the Taco came along.
It seems some markets got an updated series 5, when we got the series 6. So they kept the solid front end for a few more years.
As you can see, I don’t get out much... :)

The last solid axle on the Hilux in America was 1985. From then on they became IFS (Independent Front Suspension). And actually it became Tacoma in mid 1995. This one is a 1994.
I definitely want to do a solid axle swap but it requires money which I dont have. Hopefully in the near future...

If your bed is 6 ft it should be good enough for the Wildernest... good luck youll find one

Thanks, I could only glean so much from looking a pictures of ones for sale over here and wikipedia.
It seems like the solid axle and IFS may have been an option over here for a while, a la 100 series Cruiser.

Thats me, hey. Keep posting cool stuff and I’ll make sure it gets shared and before long I don’t think we should have any problem getting you full access.

7ft. They’re rare af. The aftermarket for MJ’s was always a tiny niche, and there’s not much that’s still around in good shape.

Are you down in the RGV or the Hill Country? I’m up in the middle of DFW.
There are two places to wheel up here. Barnwell Mountain and Northwest OHV in Bridgeport, TX.
There’s also Hidden Falls near Austin. I haven’t been to that one yet.

I heard fallout was pretty awesome again this year. I didn’t sign up in time, wasn’t sure about time off. I ended up getting it off and took the wife down to Wimberley. I did go to the Texas Avid Outdoor Expo that sunday that fallout ended. It was a good expo.

I’ve got two SAS pick ups, an ‘84 regular can, long bed and an ‘85 ex-can pick up, both have minimal rust, straight bodies and clean titles. I’m building the ex cab, parting out the long bed if you need SAS components. I’m in NM so not too far away. I got the trucks for next to nothing and would love to see you convert that ‘94 to SAS.
